Report of the AAHP Professional Development Committee

The Professional Development Committee is comprised of the following Academy members:
Carolyn J. Owen, 2002, Chair
Armin Ansari, 2003
Rodican P. Reed, 2004
Bruce Thomadsen, 2004
James G. Yusko, 2002
Jeffrey Chapman, 2003

The Committee has finalized two Standards of Qualification/Practice (SQ/P). One standard is for University Radiation Safety Officers (RSOs) and the other is for Healthcare Facility RSOs. The purpose of both standards is to describe the technical qualifications expected of a University or Healthcare Facility RSO commensurate with a range of programs. These standards are offered to provide guidance to university or healthcare facility management in establishing qualifications, credentials, and experience required for the RSO position. The specific status of each standard is as follows:

Look for information on the availability of these two standards in a future issue of the “CHP Corner.”

The Professional Development Committee is also responsible for the AAHP booth, including the set up and take down, as well as coordinating its staffing during exhibit hours at the annual and midyear HPS meetings.

Update on New AAHP Logo

A new AAHP logo has been in the works for some time. This column previously published a call for designs to be submitted; unfortunately the response to that call was very limited.

However, through the diligent efforts of a few Acad emy members, a new logo has been developed and will be presented to the AAHP Executive Committee during its meeting in Tampa. If a new logo is approved at that meeting, it will be featured in the next issue of the “CHP Corner.”·
