From: Thomas Buhl, President, AAHP
Dear Fellow CHP:
The 2003 election for AAHP officers has officially opened and will continue to 5:00 PM (EDT) May 22, 2004. The ballot is located on the AAHP "Members Only" website at http://www.hps1.org/aahp/04ballot, along with information on the candidates. I think you will agree that the Nominating Committee has done an excellent job in putting together an outstanding slate of candidates. Please join me in thanking Johnafred Thomas and the other committee members for their work.
This year Academy members will have a choice in how they cast their ballots. They may vote either electronically at the AAHP "Members Only" website, or by letter as in the past. The Secretariat mailed a description of these two options to all voting members earlier this month. If you wish to vote by letter, contact the Secretariat and the ballot and candidate information will be mailed to you. Please note that if a member submits ballots on both systems, the electronic ballot will be counted as the ballot of record.
We hope that having the electronic ballot as an option will make voting more convenient if you choose to use it.
I would like to invite you to attend the 49th Annual Health Physics Meeting that will be held in Washington, D.C. this July. The Academy will be sponsoring an excellent selection of continuing education courses on July 10, and will be hosting an all-day session "The Role of Radiation Experts in Homeland Security" on Tuesday, July 13. Past President Howard Dickson has put together an outstanding program for the special session and I hope you will be able to attend. The Annual Academy Luncheon will be at 12:15 on July 13, and the Academy business meeting will be immediately after the last paper in the session on that same day.
Further details on the Academy session and courses will be available at the AAHP website and in the Health Physics Newsletter. I hope to see you in Washington.
